Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy
Our comprehensive, cohort-based Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy is designed in alignment with the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association (IEATA) educational requirements for Expressive Arts Therapy training.
For eligible participants, completion of this program fulfills the Expressive Arts Therapy training requirement for Category B (Expressive Arts Therapy Institute Training) on the Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) application.
Pursuing the REAT credential is entirely optional. Whether or not you choose to apply for REAT registration, you will earn a Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy upon successful completion of the program.

Explore foundational philosophies, theories, and approaches to intermodal Expressive Arts Therapy, including how and why different art forms can be used to support growth and healing.
Individual Expressive Arts Therapy process
25 training hours
Develop the knowledge and skills to facilitate Expressive Arts Therapy with individuals using an inclusive, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach.
Group Expressive Arts Therapy Process
25 training hours
Learn principles and practices for designing and facilitating Expressive Arts Therapy in group settings, including group dynamics, experiential activities, and creating safe enough spaces.
Application of Expressive Arts Therapy
25 training hours
Choose from a variety of electives to discover how Expressive Arts Therapy can be thoughtfully implemented with diverse populations, presenting issues, clinical contexts, and community settings.

Supervision
25 hours
Through a combination of individual and/or group supervision, participants have the opportunity to deepen their understanding, strengthen clinical decision-making, and receive guidance on the application of Expressive Arts Therapy. Participants may schedule supervision with either Prism trainer in the format and pacing that best meets their learning needs.
Capstone
Build a portfolio that reflects your relationship with Expressive Arts over the course of the program. Share your knowledge, skills, ethics, reflections, intentions, and philosophy of Expressive Arts Therapy to wrap up your certificate.

Eligibility
This program is designed for licensed mental health professionals with a Master's degree in a mental health discipline. Eligible participants include:
Licensed Social Workers (LSW/LISW/LCSW)
Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC/LPCC)
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT)
Licensed Psychologists (PhD/PsyD)
Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC)
Associate-level clinicians enrolled in a qualifying graduate program
Participants must submit a current license or graduate enrollment verification, a brief statement of clinical experience, and a description of their interest in expressive arts prior to enrollment.
